Stroke saver tips

Hole 1
This hole plays considerably downhill, so keep that in mind with club selection. Beware of the bunker to the right. A missed shot to the left of the green will result in a tough chip to save par. A good place to miss is short of the green. The green slopes from back to front, so try to leave your shot short of the pin for an uphill putt.

Hole 2
The bank to the right will deflect balls back to the generous fairway. The steep bank left of the fairway must be avoided. A lay-up should be played towards the left side of the fairway for the ideal line into the green. When going for the green in two, aim for the centre of the green and beware of the dam to the right.

Hole 3
Aim to land your tee shot between the bunkers guarding the left and right side of the fairway. Beware of the bunker left of the green and allow for some run on your approach shot to this raised green.

Hole 4
The fairway doglegs to the right and requires a blind tee shot. The shorter tee shot for position is more prudent play, aim for the direction of play marker in the fairway. The second shot plays severely downhill but guard against coming up short. Play for the centre of the green when the pin is on the left or right hand side of the green.

Hole 5
This downhill par three requires a mid to long iron to a green that slopes from back to front. One can attack the pin if it is on the left side of the green, but use caution when the pin is on the right hand side.

Hole 6
The longer hitter has an opportunity to go for the green in two on this short par five. Aim for the middle of the fairway with your tee shot to avoid to bunkers. There is more space on the left hand side of the fairway. The second shot plays uphill so allow for extra club in order to carry the bunker short of the green. Play to short of the pin to leave yourself an uphill putt.

Hole 7
In favourable conditions this green is driveable. Aim left of the right hand side bunkers to reach the green. This small green is quite shallow, so leave yourself a full shot in when playing the shorter tee shot. Mounding around the back of the green will a keep a ball from going too long.

Hole 8
The prudent play here is to play short of the bunkers while favouring the left side of the fairway. When attempting to carry the bunkers, care must be taken to avoid the water hazard to right of the fairway and green. If the pin is on the back of the green make sure one carries the ridge in the middle of the green.

Hole 9
Look up and enjoy the spectacular view! The tee shot plays severely downhill and the second severely uphill. Play a mid iron off the tee to the left side of the fairway to leave yourself a short iron to the green. Aim for the centre of the green regardless of the pin position. Distance control is vital as any shot coming up short or going long will leave you with a difficult par save.

Hole 10
Favour the left side of the fairway to give yourself the best line to the green.

Approaching this green form the rough will make hitting the green very difficult. Attempt to leave the ball short and right of where the pin is placed.

Hole 11
This par three requires a mid iron to a green that slopes to the left. Favour the right side of the green and avoid going long over the back.

Hole 12
Aim to hit your tee shot between the two fairway bunkers. Higher handicappers can lay-up with a short iron the left of the fairway short of the stream. The second shot is played uphill to a relatively small green with space to miss to the right.

Hole 13
Play your tee shot towards the bunkers on the right side of the fairway. Longer hitters can attempt to fly the bunkers by aiming over the left hand bunkers. The approach shot to this raised green requires more club than you might think. Beware of the large bunker guarding the left side of the green.

Hole 14
A water hazard runs down the right side of the hole. Favour the left side of the fairway with your tee shot but avoid the bunkers on the left. If playing a long shot to the green consider laying up short and to the right. Any miss hit shot missing the green will result in a difficult up and down.

Hole 15
This long par five requires three shots to get home. A water hazard runs along the right side of the hole and must be carried to reach the fairway. Play either left or right of the well placed bunkers in the middle of the fairway.

The green is fifty metres deep so keep this in mind with club selection for your approach shot.

Hole16
This hole is a long and difficult par four with bunkers guarding the right hand side of the fairway. The bunker on the left is out of reach for most players so favour the left side of the fairway with your tee shot. If you can't reach the green with your second, lay-up to the right to leave yourself a straight pitch to the green which slopes from back to front.

Hole 17
This tough par three requires a medium iron to raised green that plays into the prevailing wind. The bunkers to the left of the green should be avoided.

The green opens up towards the back, so favour the longer shot.

Hole 18
Favour the right side of the fairway to avoid the well placed bunkers. The small green is guarded by a bunker short and left and by water on the right.

When you lay-up beware of the bunker in the middle of the fairway.
